Description
18th century smallholding on the Lowton-Pennington boundary, typical of many built during that period.
According to local historian and farmer Herbert Worsley, the process of following the track down to Brookhouse and the adjacent Liptrot Cottage from Sandy Lane was traditionally referred to as “gooin' down't gravel”.
The black and white photograph is from H Worsley's “A Pictorial View of Old Lowton” (1993), and may be contemporary with the book.
