Ellesmere Inn on Lancaster Road (formerly Ellesmere Street) has been there since at least 1869 in which it is referenced by the local directory as a beer retailer, with its landlady Ann Rainford, who was born in 1822. It was then passed to Alice Ackers by the time of 1881.
