The original building was owned by Henry Robinson of Wigan Brewery, King Street, Wigan. around 1870, it was altered in 1900.
The business was purchased by Peter Walker & Sons Ltd and rebuilt in 1909 to the design of Heaton, Ralph & Heaton, Wigan architects.
The cost of rebuilding was approx. £1,500, in addition to a fee of £750 to a compensation fund.
