Description

Monument commemorating Sir Thomas Tyldesley killed on this spot during the battle of Wigan Lane in 1651. Erected 1679 by Alexander Rigby Esq (then High Sheriff of Lancashire); restored 1886 by Wigan Corporation.

Sir Thomas Tyldesley's family home was Morleys Hall. Link
